Youth Justice Service Privacy Notice
Ceredigion County Council’s Youth Justice Service carries out work to enable the provision of services to young offenders or those at risk of conviction. In order to support those at risk of offending and re-offending we work alongside other agencies as well as with parents or carers. We also support victims of crime to help them come to terms with what has happened to them.
In order to carry out these services, we must process personal data, as set out in the notice below.
The YJS use information about children, young people aged 10 - 17 years and their families who receive a service to carry out specific functions to prevent offending or reoffending. We collect and hold information in order:
- to deliver the combined Youth Justice Service across Ceredigion County Council area
- for service improvement, planning and performance
- for prevention and detection of crime
- to undertake research using anonymised data only
- to Make and formulate accurate risk assessments relating to young offenders or vulnerable young people
- Liaise with relevant stakeholder bodies in the management of young offenders or vulnerable young people
- Undertake and support outreach work in the community
- Commission and undertake support programmes for vulnerable young people and young offenders
- Volunteer recruitment related to the above programmes
- Undertake intervention work within families as appropriate
