Coronavirus: Waste Service Update (22 October 2020)
The information below provides an update on the Council’s waste services in response to the Firebreak that is taking place across Wales from Friday 23 October 2020.
Kerbside Waste Collection Service
The core waste collection service (recycling, food waste, non-recyclable waste (“black bags”), glass and AHP) has continued throughout the Coronavirus situation, and this remains unchanged. Our priority is to try to deliver this service throughout the Firebreak period.
Remember, that you can check your waste collection date by using the Post Code search.
Coronavirus related waste
Place all personal waste, such as used tissues, disposable cleaning cloths, disposable face coverings, disposable gloves and any other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the non-recyclable waste (“black bag”).
Double bag all your non-recyclable waste (“black bags”) during this period.
If you are self-isolating with confirmed or suspected Covid-19: do not place waste out for collection for at least three days. For example, if you have filled/tied a bag on a Monday and your collection is due on a Thursday, that bag can be put out for collection on Thursday morning. However, if you have filled/tied a bag on a Monday and your collection is due on a Wednesday, you would need to hold onto that bag until your next collection. This is the advice from the government designed to prevent transmission of the virus.
Bulky Household and Garden Waste Collections
These services were suspended as a result of the initial lockdown, and have remained suspended. Our priority is to deliver the core waste collection service.
Our waste collection staff also help the Council in responding to emergencies, including the Highways winter response. It is likely therefore that these services will remain suspended until spring 2021.
Household Waste Sites
Household Waste Sites (HWS) across Ceredigion will close at 17:00 Friday, 23 October.
If there are no further restrictions or changes in legislation, the sites will reopen the week commencing Monday, 9 November for essential use only, and with the current control measures in place. More information can be found here.
Ceredigion County Council provides regular collections of household waste from all domestic properties in Ceredigion.
Presentation and collection of domestic waste
- All waste should be presented on the morning of collection prior to 8am
- If you are new to the area please contact us for a recycling pack
The Council will aim to provide all waste collections. Any service disruptions will be advertised on the website www.ceredigion.gov.uk/servicedisruptions.
