Coronavirus: Waste Service Update (21 April 2022)
The information below provides an update on the Council’s waste services in response to the ongoing Coronavirus situation.
Household Waste Sites
Ceredigion’s Household Waste Sites at Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Lampeter and Llanarth remain open. Residents are reminded that some additional rules and control measures are still in place and these must be adhered to. Updated information can be found here.
Kerbside Waste Collection Service
The core waste collection service (recycling, food waste, non-recyclable waste (“black bags”), glass and AHP) has continued throughout the Coronavirus situation, and this remains unchanged.
Remember, that you can check your waste collection date by using the Post Code search.
Coronavirus related waste
Place all personal waste, such as used tissues, disposable cleaning cloths, disposable face coverings, disposable gloves and any other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the non-recyclable waste (“black bag”).
Double bag all your non-recyclable waste (“black bags”) during this period.
If you are self-isolating with confirmed or suspected COVID-19: do not place waste out for collection for at least three days. For example, if you have filled/tied a bag on a Monday and your collection is due on a Thursday, that bag can be put out for collection on Thursday morning. However, if you have filled/tied a bag on a Monday and your collection is due on a Wednesday, you would need to hold onto that bag until your next collection. This is the advice from the government designed to prevent transmission of the virus.
Bulky Household and Garden Waste Collections
The services will restart gradually, with bookings for the bulky waste collection opening on 18 April for the tier 1 service and garden waste bookings opening on 25 April. Initially, bookings for the garden waste service will be available to those who already have bags ready for collection. Garden waste bags will be available from the Council’s libraries at Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, Cardigan, Lampeter, Llandysul and New Quay from 23 May.
Residents are asked to only book a service if they have no other means of dealing with the waste, so that the reintroduction of these services has minimal impact on the core service.
Ceredigion County Council provides regular collections of household waste from all domestic properties in Ceredigion.
Presentation and collection of domestic waste
- All waste should be presented on the morning of collection prior to 8am
- If you are new to the area please contact us for a recycling pack
The Council will aim to provide all waste collections. Any service disruptions will be advertised on the website www.ceredigion.gov.uk/servicedisruptions.
The waste collection service is usually provided between 8am and 4pm, however there may be occasions where we work outside these hours. Please therefore do not report a missed bin until the day after your scheduled collection. Thank you.
