Local Access Forum

Ceredigion's network of public paths and other land are major assets – as well as providing opportunities for recreation, they also have a part to play in tourism development and in promoting active lifestyles.

Ceredigion County Council are seeking members to sit on the Local Access Forum for a term of three years from 2025-2028. Please see the information at the bottom of the page to find out more. 

The Ceredigion Local Access Forum helps ensure that opportunities for access to coast and countryside are fully considered.

The Forum is a voluntary body with up to 22 members, appointed following advertising, which represents land managers and owners, users of land and those with other interests. The Forum advises the local authority and other bodies on access and recreation issues.

Under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 a forum must consist of members who represent:

  • Users of local access land and rights of way
  • Owners and occupiers of access land and land with rights of way
  • Other interests especially relevant to the area

Ceredigion County Council are seeking members to sit on the Local Access Forum (LAF) for a term of three years from 2025-2028.

The LAF has reached the end of its latest three-year term and arrangements are being made to appoint an 'new' Forum. Membership will be for a period of three years from the date of the first meeting of the new Forum.

The function of the Forum is to advise the Local Authority, Natural Resources Wales, and other bodies exercising functions of the Countryside Code and Rights of Way Act 2000, as to the improvements of public access to land in the area for the purposes of open-air recreation and the enjoyment of the area.

The LAF advises upon aspects of public access within Ceredigion, including public rights of way and the right of access to open country and registered common land.
