
Register to Vote
The Electoral Register is a record of everyone who is eligible to vote.
You can only vote if your name is on the Electoral Register. You are not automatically added when you register with Council Tax.
You can register to vote online.
You'll need your:
- Address
- Date of birth
- National Insurance Number
This information is required by law.
If you are not registered, you cannot vote in elections.
The register is used by credit reference agencies. If you are not registered, you may find it difficult to get:
- credit
- loans
- phone contracts
- a mortgage
- a bank account
