Keeping active is an important aspect of maintaining your Health & Wellbeing. There are numerous ways to keep active which can help with your physical, social and emotional wellbeing.

Below are just a few examples of the options available and there are also countless community groups throughout the county that also provide a range of activities to keep you active.

Physically Active

There are 5 Leisure Centres, 1 Wellbeing Centre and 3 Swimming Pools in Ceredigion operated by the Council and Community Leisure Trusts which offer a variety of activities and facilities for people of all ages.

Health Intervention Programmes

If you are not used to regular physical activity; and have a medical condition, you may be eligible for the National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS) which is designed to provide opportunities to exercise that are fun, rewarding and can be used in everyday life. There are also a number of other lower intensity activities available throughout the county.

Walking

Walking is the easiest way to become more active, healthier and even lose weight. You can find more information on the NHS Walking for Health site.

If you would prefer more social walking, the Ramblers Association have groups within Ceredigion – you can gather more information from the Ramblers website.

Connect Ceredigion - Boost your wellbeing

Connect Ceredigion has been created to bring communities and individuals together – a place where you can offer or request help to / from your neighbours and the wider community. There is no buying or selling here, just people helping people.

Libraries

Ceredigion Library Service consists of 4 libraries (Aberystwyth, Aberaeron, Cardigan & Lampeter), 2 community led libraries (Llandysul & New Quay), and 2 mobile libraries, as well as an extensive online library service. In partnership with Ceredigion Actif we loan out sports equipment free of charge to library members. Items include balance bikes, tennis racquets, footballs, basketballs and so on. We also have an extensive health and wellbeing book collection to look at keeping healthy and how to live with medical conditions.

Culture

Theatr Felinfach and Ceredigion Museum have a variety of activities available for people to take part in and enjoy.

The Theatr has a year-long programme of theatrical and musical events for all ages along with a calendar of weekly social groups for all ages from toddlers to the over 60’s.

Ceredigion Museum is open to visitors all year round where you wander around the collections or enjoy the regular programme of exhibitions. The Museum also offers workshops for families and individuals at different times of the year.

CERED organises Welsh medium and bilingual activities and workshops for all ages in communities across the county from guided walks and ukelele groups to lego clubs and coffee and chat sessions.

Volunteering

Volunteering can be a great way to keep active, meet new people and help others. You do not normally need any special skills to volunteer but the agency that you choose to register with will go through this with you.

Ceredigion Association of Voluntary Organisations (CAVO) can a service to those people who are interested in volunteering.

Age Friendly Ceredigion

Dysgu Bro Ceredigion - Adult Community Learning

Dysgu Bro Ceredigion Adult Community Learning is part of the Lifelong Learning service of Ceredigion County Council. We aim to provide learning opportunities for the people of Ceredigion in their community which will encourage them to develop new interests, work towards gaining a qualification or improve their skills for the workplace.
