National Safeguarding Week will take place between 15 and 19 November.

Ceredigion County Council along with neighbouring partner agencies form a part of the Mid and West Wales Regional Safeguarding Board called CYSUR (Children’s Board) and CWMPAS (Adults Board) who provide support for children, young people and adults who are at risk of harm and neglect.

This year, the Safeguarding Board are exploring themes that have been particularly pertinent throughout the pandemic. A series of seminars and workshops have been put together to raise awareness of the themes which includes Domestic Abuse, Exploitation, Suicide and Self-Harm and Self Neglect.

Sian Howys, Corporate Lead Officer for Porth Cynnal, said: “We all have a part to play in Safeguarding, whether we work directly with vulnerable people, carry out supporting roles or by keeping an eye out for our friends, relatives and neighbours. Safeguarding is everyone’s business, and we must all work together to safeguard and protect people of all ages in Ceredigion.”

The Council have worked extremely hard over the last 18 months to adapt and to continue offering our essential services throughout the pandemic, which includes our support workers and safeguarding officers. Council staff will have access to various resources and information during the week to raise awareness of safeguarding best practice and the support available.

Alun Williams, Cabinet Member for Porth Cynnal, said: “Safeguarding adults and children at risk remains a priority throughout Ceredigion and staff have worked together to continue to provide robust and effective safeguarding responses during the Pandemic. We are asking everyone within Ceredigion to look out for one another in order to help those who may be at risk of abuse and neglect. The Programme of events during National Safeguarding Week enhances the awareness raising of a number of safeguarding issues for the public and professionals alike.”
