Cynnal y Cardi - Local Growth Fund 2026-2027
As part of an ongoing commitment to supporting economic development and businesses, Ceredigion County Council is delivering the Cynnal y Cardi Business Capital Grant. This grant is funded by the UK Government, administered by the Welsh Government, and delivered through the Local Growth Fund.
This support is intended to strengthen business resilience, stimulate economic growth, and contribute to the long-term prosperity of Ceredigion.
The business grant scheme will provide funding for capital investment projects only. The Expression of Interest form will open from 1 July 2026 until 3rd August and will be assessed for eligibility.
Eligible applicants may then be invited to submit a full application.
Cynnal y Cardi Business Capital Grant – minimum support of £2,500 up to £50,000.
The Cynnal y Cardi Business Capital Grant aims to:
- Increase capital investment in businesses with high growth potential, enabling improvements in productivity, innovation, and competitiveness.
- Support the growth and expansion ambitions of both new and existing businesses.
- Facilitate the development of the social enterprise sector, helping organisations to realise new opportunities and achieve sustainable growth.
- Promote job creation, workforce development, and increased wage levels across the local economy.
The programme is particularly interested in supporting projects that demonstrate innovation, access to higher-value markets, and the adoption of new or creative approaches that enhance business growth, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability.
Councillor Clive Davies, Cabinet Member for Economy, Regeneration and Carbon Management said: “The Cynnal y Cardi Business Capital Grant is an important opportunity for businesses across Ceredigion to invest in their future. By supporting capital projects that drive innovation, improve productivity and create jobs, this funding will help strengthen our local economy and build long-term resilience. I would encourage all eligible businesses with growth ambitions to come forward and express their interest.”
The Fund will be a business grant scheme, which will include support towards capital expenditure projects and specialist revenue expenditure (e.g. training costs associated with capital equipment purchases - not including ongoing running costs or staff costs).
Please note that you must first complete an Expression of Interest form, which requires you to provide information about your project. Your submission will then be assessed for eligibility. If your project meets the eligibility criteria, you will be invited to complete a full application form.
Applications are welcome in Welsh or English. Applications submitted in either language will be treated equally.
The fund will welcome applications under a first come, first serve basis between 1st July 2026 and 14th August 2026 (full applications by invite only), or until the fund is fully allocated.
