Ceredigion Childminders Celebrate Childminding Week 2026
Childminding Week 2026 took place from 11 to 17 May 2026, with the theme of ‘The Magic of Childminding’.
It is an annual celebration of the vital role that Childminders play in shaping the lives of children and the impact their work has on children, families, local communities and the wider childcare sector.
The Childcare Unit at Ceredigion County Council facilitated an event on 12 May 2026 where Childminders and the children they care for met up for a picnic and playtime. The event was hosted at Llanerchaeron National Trust, where attendees were able to walk around the walled garden, visit the farm animals, and play freely in the grounds with a variety of resources before enjoying their picnic and a cup of tea.
Staff from the Childcare Unit were in attendance to show their appreciation for the sector, answer questions, offer advice and support on all aspects of Childminding. A representative from Coram Pacey Cymru was on hand to promote the Cwlwm Welsh Promise and how Childminders can progress on their journey of working towards an Active Offer. The celebration concluded with tea, fruit, and biscuits for everyone.
A range of other events were held during the week, including National events run by Coram Pacey Cymru, along with smaller, local events arranged by Childminding networks throughout the county.
Councillor Wyn Thomas, Ceredigion Cabinet Member for Schools, Lifelong Learning and Skills commented: “It was a pleasure to speak with some of the Childminders at the celebration event for Ceredigion. They are a valuable part of the childcare and play sector, offering flexible childcare that enables parents and carers to work and attend training.”
