Businesses in Ceredigion are urged to apply for a business grant. Nearly 900 businesses have already had their applications approved paying out £11.7m of grant funding. More businesses will be eligible for the grant and are urged to apply.

A business premises may be eligible for a business grant introduced by the Welsh Government to support businesses in Wales through the Coronavirus pandemic. 

Ceredigion County Council are managing the grants on behalf of Welsh Government.

Details of these grants, and an online application form, are available on the Ceredigion County Council website: www.ceredigion.gov.uk/Coronavirus. Select ‘Support for Businesses’ and the ‘Business Grants (Local Authority)’ tab, to submit an application through an online form.

Two grants are available to businesses.

The first grant of £25,000 is available for retail, leisure and hospitality businesses occupying properties with a rateable value of between £12,001 and £51,000. This means businesses that occupy properties such as shops, restaurants, cafes, drinking establishments, cinemas, live music venues, hotels, guest and boarding premises.

The second grant of £10,000 is available to ALL businesses eligible for Small Business Rates Relief (SBRR) in Wales with a rateable value of £12,000 or less. This is available to all sectors and is not restricted to just the retail, leisure and hospitality businesses.

However, the eligibility criteria above is clear and the Council does not have the discretion to support businesses that do not meet the above criteria. Businesses that do not meet the criteria of this scheme may wish to consider making an application to Business Wales.
