Care Within the Home
Are you an adult or a child who has been ill or has had an accident and now struggle to look after yourself, unable to cope with day-to-day tasks such as personal care, regenerate meals and moving around? If you want to stay independent in your own home for as long as possible there is support available.
Integrated Community Equipment Service
Jointly funded by Ceredigion County Council and Hywel Dda University Health Board, the Ceredigion Integrated Community Equipment Service (ICES) provide equipment to enable you to aid and maintain your daily living activities and independence at home. Support is also given to prevent the need for hospital and care home admissions, and to expedite hospital discharge. All equipment is provided free of charge for as long as it required.
Examples of equipment that may be recommended for use include:
- Toilet seats and commodes
- Furniture raisers
- Walking frames
- Hoists
- Profiling beds
- Pressure care mattresses
Adults and children with an assessed need. In order that you get the correct equipment, a health or social professional will call to assess your needs. If you have been in hospital, you will be assessed before you are discharged. If you are at home one of the following professionals will assess you:
- District/Community Nurse attached to your GP practice
- Occupational Therapist
- Physiotherapist
- Other 'Trusted Assessor' health or social care professional involved in your care
