In order to meet local demand for opportunities to practice and use the Welsh language, a new coffee morning is being launched in Llechryd, South Ceredigion.

Cered will launch the new Welsh coffee morning at Neuadd y Cwrwgl Llechryd on Wednesday 12 October at 11am. The Coffee morning will be held every second and fourth Wednesday of the month up until Christmas and is free to attend.

The coffee morning will give local Welsh speakers of all levels, inlcuding keen Welsh learners a regular opportunity to come together to speak Welsh. The coffee morning will be a great opportunity for learners to practice their Welsh in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Local Councillor Amanda Edwards, said: “It is crucial that people who learn Welsh have the opportunity to practice and speak it outside the classroom. The number of people learning Welsh has risen enormously, especially over the last two years. Opening the coffee morning in Llechryd is a great opportunity for people to socialise in Welsh. Everyone is welcome – Welsh learners, fluent Welsh speakers and those interested in learning Welsh. Please come in droves!”

The coffee morning in Llechryd will sit alongside other Cered coffee mornings in Penparcau, Llandysul and on Zoom which have been very popular recently.

Cered Team Leader, Steffan Rees said: “Our coffee morning in Penparcau has been very popular with learners and fluent speakers over the past few months and our aim is to build on the success of what we have there with similar coffee mornings in other parts of the county. When Amanda contacted us to see if we would be interested in developing something in Llechryd, we jumped at the chance and we are very excited to meet and get to know everyone at Neuadd y Cwrwgl over the coming months.”
