The level of COVID-19 cases in Ceredigion continues to rise. The latest figures show that over the last 7 days, there have been 150 new cases which takes the County to 206.3 per 100,000 population (as at 1pm, 10 December 2020).

This is the highest recorded level in Ceredigion since the start of the pandemic. We are especially concerned about the level of increase in the Aberaeron and Llanrhystud area, which has now reached 507.3 per 100,000 population and the Lampeter and Llanfihangel Ystrad area which remains high at 388.2 per 100,000 population (7 days from 2nd to 8th December).

This doesn’t need to be the case. We all have a responsibility to ensure we follow the guidelines so that we can keep our families and friends safe and that we can meet up with loved ones over Christmas safely. We ask that you now limit your contact with people outside your household.

To play your part and to keep each other safe:

  • Keep a 2m social distance from each other when out and about – indoors and outdoors;
  • Wash your hands regularly;
  • Limit your social contact;
  • Work from home wherever possible;
  • Households are able to form a ‘bubble’ with one other - that bubble arrangement cannot be swapped, changed, or extended further than one household;
  • Wear a face mask in indoor public places, shops and on public transport;
  • Self-isolate immediately at the first sign of any COVID-19 symptoms and arrange a test immediately, only leaving home to get tested. A test need to be booked online or by phoning 119.

Be aware of COVID-19 symptoms. They include a high temperature, a new continuous cough and a loss or change to sense of smell or taste. But there are also other symptoms early on, such as headaches, tiredness and general aches and pains usually associated with flu. We are urging people who feel unwell to be extra cautious, especially to practice hand hygiene and distancing, and if in doubt, please book a test.

The best gift this Christmas is a COVID-19 free Christmas. Let’s work together to ensure that we can achieve this. Let’s make the next 2 weeks count.

Together, we can keep Ceredigion safe.
