Ceredigion Youth Service (CYS) will host an annual awards ceremony on April 17, at Theatr Felinfach between 4-7pm. The ceremony will be an opportunity to celebrate and recognise the achievements and successes of all the young people who have engaged with CYS during the past year.
Recognition will be given to pupils from each secondary school in Ceredigion, young people working with the CYS outreach service and all the young people who attend the youth clubs and holiday provisions.
Councillor Catrin Miles, Cabinet member with responsibility for Learning Services said, “Ceredigion Youth Service have held a wide variety of projects, activities and events again this year, with well over 5,000 young people in attendance. These have been successful due to the commitment and enthusiasm shown by the young people from all over Ceredigion. The ceremony is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the young people and to reflect the excellent opportunities organised and provided by Ceredigion Youth Service.”
The ceremony will recognise over 400 individuals who have achieved nationally recognised accreditations in 2017-2018 and will showcase a set of outstanding achievements and work by young people. Invitations have been distributed to young people aged 11-25 and their families, from across the county to attend the awards ceremony.
Ceredigion Youth Service Principal Youth Officer, Gethin Jones said, “The number of extracurricular qualifications achieved by young people in 2017-2018, as well as the number of special achievements that will be announced on the night, reflect the wide range of work being done to support our young people and the commitment of youth workers, schools and work based learning provider across the County. The awards ceremony provides recognition for young people’s hard work over the past year, encouraging young people to feel a sense of pride and achievement in themselves. We look forward to welcoming young people and their families to join us to celebrate.”
Ceredigion Youth Service is a service for young people aged 11-25 in Ceredigion dedicated to supporting young people’s personal, social and educational development through specialised support and open access provision. Provision includes School Based Youth Work, Outreach Youth Work and Youth Clubs.
