A new station is being developed on the railway line between Aberystwyth and Borth stations. It will feature a car park, bus interchange and cycle storage and is due to open to passengers in the winter of 2020.

Funded by the Welsh Government and Department for Transport the new station is being delivered by us, Transport for Wales, in partnership with Ceredigion County Council and Network Rail.

What has happened to-date?

We have been on site since October 2019 and construction of the new Bow Street Station commenced in November 2019. We recently completed a major part of the work – the installation of the platform – and we will now move onto the next phases of the build over the coming weeks.

What is the next phase of work?

Two key aspects of the project will be the development of the carpark, which involves earth movements in the field immediately adjacent to the site of the new station, followed by the creation of the new access road to the station which will be constructed off the A487.

In addition, we will be realigning the existing junction between the A487 and A4159, to better suit the new station approach. As a result, traffic management will be in place from the end of March until late Summer, during daytime hours only.

Alun Griffiths Contractors Ltd are our principal contractors on site.

How will we be affected?

We will endeavour to minimise the impact of these essential roadworks during this period but please allow additional time when making car journeys along the trunk road. The work is due to commence in March and continue into the summer months. We apologise for any disturbance this work may cause and thank you for your patience.
