During the autumn term, Aberaeron Youth Club Members have been busy organising community activities and promoting the youth club to the residents of the town.

The Youth Club Members have organised litter pick days and beach cleans as part of their environment and citizenship project; arranged relaxation sessions as part of their well-being project; prepared healthy meals, utilising fruit from the new community garden; and visited Min Y Môr care home to donate one of their Wales 2050 graffiti mural depicting Aberaeron's heritage.

Councillor Catrin Miles, Ceredigion County Council Cabinet Member with responsibility for Learning Services and Lifelong Learning said, “It's a pleasure to see young people taking an active role in helping their community. Aberaeron Youth Club is a great example of young people feeling confident and empowered to do positive things which raise awareness and help other people. I congratulate the young volunteers and all the members for their hard work and wish them success with their future projects.”

The youth club also opened its doors to the Aberaeron Walk and Talk group, organised by Councillor Elizabeth Evans, where Aberaeron residents were able to visit the youth centre and learn more about the different projects, such as the recent Community Garden re-development.

Councillor Elizabeth Evans, Aberaeron Town Council said, “I welcome the fact that Aberaeron Youth Club have fully immersed themselves into the community life of Aberaeron, by supporting various groups and activities and welcoming groups into their Youth Club and Community Garden, which they are rightly proud of. The Youth Club have been so successful in raising the profile of young people in Aberaeron as being a vibrant and integral part of our community and we value that very much.”

All of the activities and provisions at the youth club are planned and prepared mostly by the Young Volunteers. They are now in the process of organising fundraising events for local mental health charities. Thomas Evans and Ashlie Day, two young volunteers, have arranged a Quiz Night at Aberaeron Yacht Club on Thursday, 4 October, 2018. All proceeds will go towards their fundraising project.

Thomas and Ashlie, Young Volunteers at Aberaeron Youth Club said, “We're really proud of the youth club. It's a great place for young people to come, socialise and have support. We have different activities happening each week, which helps the members to develop and improve. We feel it's important to give something back to our community and we try and organise events which brings people together.”
