Support for households struggling with heating oil costs
Additional support is available for residents experiencing unexpected financial crisis and hardship who rely on heating oil through the Welsh Government’s Discretionary Assistance Fund (DAF).
Rising global uncertainty has led to fluctuating oil prices, and many households that depend on oil for home heating are finding costs increasingly difficult to manage. To help residents who are experiencing severe financial pressures, temporary changes have been made to the DAF to provide enhanced assistance.
Under the updated support measures, eligible households can now receive:
• Up to £750 per award for heating oil
• Access to two awards within a 12-month period, with at least three months between awards
This support is designed for individuals and families experiencing extreme financial hardship and who have no savings or other means of financial support. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Be facing an unexpected crisis that has left them unable to afford essential items such as food, gas, electricity, or heating oil
• Require immediate financial assistance
• Be over 16
• Live in Wales
• Have no available savings
All applications must be submitted through an Approved Partner.
