Summer Holiday Provision a success
The 2025 Summer Holiday Provision by Ceredigion County Council for children, young people, families, and older people was a resounding success.
The programme of activities was provided by Porth Cymorth Cynnar, the integrated through-age services that deliver early help, support, and preventative Services.
From outdoor adventures and creative workshops to wellbeing roadshows and targeted support, the programme was designed to promote positive mental and physical wellbeing and strengthen community connections.
Councillor Alun Williams, Cabinet Member for Through Age Wellbeing, said: "This summer has been a shining example of what can be achieved when services work together with a shared vision. Our youth workers, family workers, and Wellbeing Centre officers have gone above and beyond to create safe, supportive spaces for our residents. The feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive."
The youth service delivered 19 activity days and trips ranging from Residential trips in Alton Towers to Surfing in Borth. A total of 156 young people took part in activities.
Along with our universal provision which was free of charge for Ceredigion residents, targeted teams such as Youth Justice and Early Help kept in weekly contact in community spaces and via telephone with children, adults, and families. Activities were hosted in multiple locations including Lampeter, Aberystwyth, Cardigan, and rural communities, with transport and meals provided to ensure accessibility.
A young person who took part in the summer holiday provision, said: "It was absolutely amazing, and all staff were brilliant as always.”
Gavin Witte, Community Youth Work and Prevention Coordinator, said: "We saw families reconnecting, children gaining confidence, and parents feeling supported. The joint sessions we ran with the other Council Services helped bridge gaps and build trust. It’s been a summer of growth for everyone involved."
Ceredigion County Council would like to thank all partners, staff, young people, families, and volunteers who made this summer a positive experience. Plans are already underway to build on this success for future school holidays.
