Success at Ceredigion’s Youth Work Week Conference 2025
On 24 June 2025 over 100 young people, Youth Workers, educators, and partners gathered at the Medrus Conference Centre, Aberystwyth University, for Ceredigion’s Youth Work Conference 2025, held as part of Youth Work Week in Wales.
The event featured keynote speeches, interactive workshops, and youth-led presentations, all focusing on celebrating the power of Youth Work and amplifying the voices of young people across Ceredigion and beyond.
Opening the conference, Barry Rees, Corporate Director of Ceredigion County Council, said: “The Ceredigion Youth Work Conference 2025 was a powerful reminder of the energy, creativity, and potential of our young people. It was a privilege to open the event and witness the inspiring work being done across our communities to support and empower the next generation.”
The day included contributions from young speakers Chelsea Jones and Gwen Evans, who shared their personal journeys in Youth Work, alongside keynote presentations from leading figures in the sector including Dr. Howard Williamson, Emma Chivers and Caleb Jackson.
Chelsea Jones said: “The conference was a great opportunity to share good practice and hear from educators from different backgrounds. As a young person who has been involved in Youth Work throughout my teenage years, and now studying to become a Youth Worker, I really enjoyed the experience of sharing my own Youth Work journey with others.”
Workshops explored topics such as Youth Work and employment, digital experiences, intergenerational engagement, and innovative approaches like virtual reality.
Gethin Jones, Corporate Manager of Ceredigion Youth Service, reflected on the success of the event and said: “This conference was a celebration of Youth Work innovation, responding to the key issues voted by young people in Ceredigion, promoting collaboration, and connections. The energy and enthusiasm throughout the day was incredible, and we’re proud to have created a space where young people and professionals alike felt heard, valued, and inspired.”
