Ceredigion’s Adult Social Services Praised in Latest Care Inspectorate Wales Report
Ceredigion County Council is pleased to welcome the findings of the latest improvement check by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), which highlights the positive progress made in Adult Social Services since the last performance evaluation in 2023.
The inspection, carried out in May 2025, commended the Council’s commitment to person-centred care, strong leadership, and a clear vision for continuous improvement. CIW noted that the Council is “working constructively to improve outcomes for people who use services” and has made “positive progress in key areas”.
A cornerstone of this progress is the Council’s Through Age Wellbeing (TAW) model which focuses on early intervention, prevention, and promoting wellbeing across all age groups. The TAW model enables individuals to access the right support at the right time, helping them maintain independence and reducing the need for statutory services. Importantly, the model was delivered within budget for 2024/25, demonstrating its sustainability and value for money.
Further achievements include:
- Residential Care Home Ratings: All residential care homes operated by Ceredigion County Council are currently rated as either ‘Good’ or ‘Excellent’, reflecting the high standards of care and support provided across the county.
- Workforce Growth: The Adult Social Services team has been strengthened with the recruitment of six new social workers, enhancing capacity and ensuring continued delivery of high-quality care.
Councillor Alun Williams, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Through Age Wellbeing, said: "We are very pleased with the progress recognised by CIW and the impact of our Through Age Wellbeing model. It’s a testament to the dedication of our teams and their commitment to supporting people to live well, independently, and with dignity."
Ceredigion County Council remains committed to building on this momentum, continuing to improve services and outcomes for residents across the county.
