Ceredigion Childminders Celebrate Childminding Week 2025
Childminding Week 2025 took place from 10 to 16 May, with the theme of ‘Unsung Childcare Heroes’. It was an opportunity to raise awareness of Childminders, celebrate the incredible work they do, and build a sense of community while involving a wide range of sector stakeholders.

The Ceredigion Childcare Unit facilitated an event on Tuesday,13 May where Childminders and the children they care for met up for a picnic and playtime. The event was hosted at Llanerchaeron National Trust and arranged with the help of Penparc Childminder, Terri Steele. On a sunny day, in the beautiful surroundings of Llanerchaeron, attendees were able to walk around the walled garden, visit the farm animals, and play freely on the lawns with a variety of toys and games before enjoying their picnic and a cup of tea.
Staff from the Childcare Unit were in attendance to show their appreciation for the sector, give advice, and answer any questions. The celebration drew to a close with tea, cake, and biscuits for everyone, before the children and their Childminders headed home.
A range of other events were held during the week, including an online Celebration and Update with the Childcare Unit, National events run by Coram Pacey Cymru, along with smaller, local events arranged by Childminding networks throughout the county.
Councillor Wyn Thomas, Ceredigion Cabinet Member for Schools, Lifelong Learning and Skills commented: “Childminders are a valuable part of the Childcare sector in Ceredigion, and it is wonderful to have the opportunity to celebrate and support the work that they do in supporting children and families in Ceredigion.”
