Residents reminded to bring a photo ID to vote on Thursday

The UK Parliament Election for the Member of Parliament for Ceredigion Preseli Constituency will be held on Thursday 04 July 2024.

This is the first time voters have voted in Ceredigion Preseli constituency: a new constituency following constituency boundary changes across the UK.

Eligible voters will need to show an accepted form of photo ID to vote in this Election. The full list of accepted forms of ID is available on the Electoral Commissioner’s website: www.gov.uk/how-to-vote/photo-id-youll-need

If you are voting by post, you have two options:
•    Return postal votes to the Council’s office in Penmorfa, Aberaeron, where you will need to complete a form with help from an Elections officer. Please do not leave your postal vote in the mailbox outside the Council’s office as these postal votes will be rejected.
•    Return postal votes to any polling station in Ceredigion by 10pm on 04 July 2024. Again, you will need to complete a form.

You can only hand in your own postal vote and the postal votes of up to five others for this election.

Eifion Evans is the Returning Officer for Ceredigion Preseli. He said: “If you get to a polling station and you have forgotten your ID, you can return later with it before the polls close and cast your vote. If a voter has concerns about showing their face at a polling station, because they wear a face covering for example, they can ask to have their ID checked in private. They won’t need to give a reason for their request or explain why they’d prefer privacy. Staff will be trained to handle requests for ID to be checked in private.”
