Ceredigion County Council in partnership with Ceredigion Association of Voluntary Organisations (CAVO) and local community groups are ensuring that adults across Ceredigion who may be experiencing loneliness, isolation or vulnerabilities as a result of COVID-19 receive wellbeing packs to support them during this difficult period.

By the time the wellbeing packs were distributed, we had been in lockdown for over two months, with many restrictions introduced, impacting on our usual way of life. The wellbeing packs further support the work of Porth Cymorth Cynnar’s Keeping in Touch Service, and it is hoped that they bring some comfort to residents who need it.

800 wellbeing packs were created by Porth Cymorth Cynnar, and items were generously donated by services across the Local Authority and partner organisations. Local groups and organisations across Ceredigion received a stock of wellbeing packs which have been distributed to vulnerable adults in their communities, from Tre’r Ddol to Tregaron to Cardigan.

Porth Cymorth Cynnar extend a thanks to the following organisations and services who contributed; Ceredigion Music Service, Cered Menter Iaith, Ceredigion Museum, Theatr Felinfach, The National Library of Wales, Ceredigion Citizens Advice Bureau, Hywel Dda Health Board, Dysgu Bro Ceredigion, Ceredigion National GP Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS), Cambrian News, Porth y Gymuned and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service. Support was also kindly offered by Ceredigion Libraries and Ceredigion’s Facilities Team to support the delivery of the wellbeing packs out to local communities.

Community support groups, volunteers and local councillors have all played a key role in ensuring that the wellbeing packs were distributed to residents in communities across Ceredigion. The Council would like to thank all the volunteers for their continued support during the lockdown period.

Wellbeing packs included newsletters, leaflets, important contact details, information letters, quizzes, puzzles, easy exercises, health and wellbeing resources, craft materials, music CD, reminiscence photographs, newspapers, hand cream, stress ball, calming art and colouring pencils, all in a cotton bag.

One Cardigan resident who received a wellbeing pack said, “Thank you for sending out wellbeing packs! I enjoyed the Ceredigion Museum activities and the Dove hand cream. Well done.”
