The Little Mill Players’ pantomime this year is ‘Treasure Island’ and will be performed at Theatr Felinfach from Thursday, 31 January to Saturday, 2 February at 7.30pm. There will also be a matinée performance on the Saturday at 2:30pm.

The pantomime broadly follows the plot of the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson with many of the original characters involved. However, we suspect that Stevenson did not foresee the inclusion, or is it intrusion, of the Smuggler’s Cove Women’s Institute. Following this, the race is on to find the treasure; with a lot of fun and many laughs along the way in this family-friendly production.

The Little Mill Players have existed as long as Theatr Felinfach has been in existence, since 1972. Members of the company come from various parts of Ceredigion and even Carmarthenshire. One of the longest standing members of the current cast is Dilys Megicks, who’s been a member for some 23 years. During that time she has portrayed a wide array of characters including a baddy, a chicken and Ianto’s Nan. She enjoys the traditional pantomime slapstick, as well as being a villain!

The age range of the cast varies from 7 to 60+ and their jobs vary from manual to managerial as well as school pupils and students. This year we are thrilled to have several new faces and hope this trend will continue. The show’s director, Stephen Entwistle has been a member of the group for over 15 years. He was initially the Musical Director, then progressed to being an actor and is now the boss!

Another member of the cast is Andrew Tyrrell who, over the years, has truly made the role of panto ‘Dame’ his own. He most certainly is the comedian of the cast and has a huge influence on everyone!

Part of the cast are going around some of the local towns, such as Lampeter, Aberaeron and Aberystwyth to promote the production so keep your eyes peeled for any rogue pirates and even rogue WI members.
