A members’ workshop has heard that Ceredigion can be a leader in the agri-food sector in the future. The workshop was held in the Council Chamber on 30 April.

Councillors heard presentations from some of the leading voices of the agri-food sector from across Wales. They discussed diversifying in agriculture and how using controlled environment agriculture can improve yields.

Talks were also held on the future of the food processing industry, and on running agri-food businesses in Ceredigion.

Councillors heard how council land and assets could be used differently to support the agri-food sector in Ceredigion in the future.

Councillor Rhodri Evans is the Cabinet member responsible for Economy and Regeneration. He said; “Agriculture is central to the economy and communities of Ceredigion. This county can flourish in the future if businesses and organisations look forward with ambition and find new ways of working.”

“This county has a track record of innovating in the agri-food sector, and it has the potential to go so much further.”
