In the true tradition of its original motto the Coliseum, Aberystwyth, now home to Ceredigion Museum, will host an evening of spectacular ‘entertainment without vulgarity’ on Saturday 4 August in celebration of the Welsh Year of Sea.

Taking the sea as its main thrust, the evening’s host is the ever popular Jez Danks who takes the helm and embroiders the evening with tales and adventures of the high seas. Not only will we meet the singing pirates and salty dogs of Borth but Jez will also introduce Phil and Martin Hugill who hail from across the waters of the Dovey.

The Hugill brothers have a wealth of Sea Shanties passed down from their famous father Stan Hugill, who sailed on tall ships. Sarah Morton, events officer at the museum adds, “I am delighted that the Hugill brothers have returned to their native coast to perform together once again.’ Besides ceilidhs and folk evenings in Britain they have also appeared several times in the annual Mystic Seaport festival in Connecticut, USA, and sung at festivals in Germany and Poland.

It promises to be a toe-tapping, fun filled evening. Not only will there be bass guitar and drums but fiddle and mandolin playing too. Come along ready to sing the night away.”

The evening will be held on 4 August at 7pm. Tickets are £8/£6.
