Ceredigion County Council Actions

Ceredigion Green and Blue Infrastructure Strategy

This strategy refers to the network of green and blue spaces that surround Ceredigion's towns, they include things like rivers, allotments, parks, hedges, footpaths, and ponds. The strategy outlines the importance of making space for nature, shaping thriving public spaces, creating happy and healthy communities, and strengthening resilience to climate change.

This green and blue infrastructure strategy hopes to progress the counties ambition to become greener and more resilient by identifying key challenges facing the green and blue infrastructure network and prioritising the most beneficial projects to address these challenges in each town and the design principles can be the foundation for securing future funding to instigate them.

Phosphate Reduction and Mitigation Plan

A project with the aim of directly improving the condition of the Teifi river through reducing Phosphate inputs, improving water quality and reversing decline in nature.

Ash Dieback Action Plan

The Council has created and is implementing an Ash Dieback Action Plan, this includes a prioritised risk-based program of surveying ash trees on council land, and those within falling distance of public spaces, private land adjoining highways, public spaces, and public rights of way. We have surveyed the entire road network and council-owned schools and are continuing to survey other public spaces.

Green Travel

Ceredigion County Council is committed to supporting environmentally friendly travel for its employees and the community. The Green Travel Pages give information on the ways that we encourage employees to look at alternatives to motor vehicles as a mode of transport.

Electric Vehicle Charging

The County Council is completing first phases of charge-point installation with further locations to follow as part of its Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) Strategy and Action Plan.

Cycle to Work Scheme

The Council operates a Cycle to Work Scheme which encourages employees to get pedalling to improving their health, wellbeing and reduce air and noise pollution.

Carbon Management Plan

Climate change is one of the biggest environmental challenges we face. Although failure to meet carbon emission and energy reduction targets will have both financial and environmental impacts for the Authority, there are wider implications for the County as a whole, e.g. increased instances of flooding, drought and storms.

It is recognized that we must lead by example and do all we can to reduce future climate change and address and mitigate the risks associated with it. Please read the carbon management plan and the Achieving Net Zero document to read about we are doing to continue our established record of emission reduction.
