Every year as part of their ‘Start from the Heart’ initiative, the Calor Gas Depot at Glanyrafon Industrial Estate donate a day of their time by volunteering in the community. This year, Calor Gas employees - Matthew Davis, Kevin Sargent and Martin Atkinson volunteered their time at Bryntirion Residential home in Tregaron.

The gardens and gardening equipment were tended to and several heavy pieces of furniture were relocated to more suitable places around the home.

The Start from the Heart Initiative is a countrywide project that the company promotes at each of its depots. The initiative looks to benefit communities and organisations such as Bryntirion.

Jennifer Daniels, Manager of Bryntirion Residential Care Home said, “Myself, the staff and residents at Bryntirion would like to express our thanks to Calor Gas for allowing three members of staff to come and improve our garden. Within a couple of hours, the garden was looking so much better and although there was a substantial amount of work to do, they prioritised clearing all of the paths and cut back the overhanging foliage to enable our residents to manoeuvre around the garden safely.”

Kevin Sargent, Aberystwyth Site Leader, Calor Gas said, “Calor Gas is proud to support local communities through our volunteering programme. We’re delighted that our colleagues at Aberystwyth chose to support the Bryntirion Residential Home and look forward to seeing this relationship develop over the years.”
