Have your say on Ceredigion County Council’s new Strategic Equality Plan.

All public authorities must publish a set of objectives and a plan that describes what they will do to reduce inequality and address prejudice and discrimination.

People were asked for their views about equality in the Dyfed-Powys area during the summer. The answers received have helped us to put together an important draft Strategic Equality Plan to make life better for those who are disadvantaged because of their characteristics.

The Council’s draft equality objectives are to:

  • be an equal opportunities employer
  • foster good relations and tackle prejudice
  • ensure engagement and participation, respect and access to services
  • provide fair and inclusive education.

The plan details a range of actions to achieve this.

Councillor Catrin M S Davies, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Customer Services, said: “We want everyone in Ceredigion to feel that they belong. Everyone who lives, works and studies here has the right to feel safe in the knowledge that they’ll be treated fairly and with respect. I think that our draft Equality Plan is fit for purpose, but I want to know what other people think.”

You are encouraged to read the draft plan and tell the Council what you think. All the information is on the Engagement and Consultations webpage.

If you prefer a paper copy, ring the Council on 01545 570881 or pop into your or leisure centre or local library and ask for a copy. You can also receive help on how to input your response at these locations.
