14th August 2017 to 30th September 2017
Following the Local Elections in May 2017, The Council has prepared a new Corporate Strategy 2017-2022 setting out the priorities that the Council will work towards over the next 5 years. The Priorities are 1. Boosting the Economy, 2. Investing in people’s Future, 3. Enabling Individual and Family Resilience and 4. Promoting Environmental and Community Resilience.
In addition the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 directs that the Corporate Strategy should include Wellbeing Objectives, which are designed to maximise our contribution to achieving the Welsh Government’s seven national Well-being goals to improve the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of Wales.
The Act requires the Council to take the five ways of working into account which includes looking ‘long term,’ integrating our approaches with other public or voluntary sector bodies, involving others in decision making, collaborating on shared solutions and a focus on preventing issues by working to understand root causes.
The Local Government (Wales) Measure 2009 also requires that the Council publishes Improvement Objectives each year, therefore for each Priority area the Council has identified a set of Well-being and Improvement objectives 2018-19.
The Priorities and Well-being and Improvement Objectives are set out in the document Corporate Strategy 2017-2022, including Well-being and Improvement Objectives 2018-19.
Further information on why these Priorities and Wellbeing and Improvement Objectives were chosen, what we aim to do, the resources available, and how they contribute to the 5 Ways of Working and the Welsh Government’s 7 National Wellbeing Goals is provided in the consultation documents
