Work pattern     outside of school hours

Rate of pay        £14.20 per hour

 Introduction:

We are seeking a Personal Assistant to enable our 9 year old son to socialise outside of the family home to gain confidence and independence. Your support will initially be to accompany one of the parents in taking him out.

A driver is not essential for this role as employer is within walking distance of town.

Our son is non-verbal but can communicate his wishes by pointing to indicate what he wants. Activities enjoyed include going to the park or beach, going on a trampoline and watching the steam train leave the station. It would be great if he could be taken on a train journey in future.

When out and about, the family take a pushchair as when he tires, the son can drop himself to the floor. He is fairly heavy to pick up, so needs to be encouraged to get up from the floor. Due to lack of danger awareness, a harness is used when going out and constant supervision is required.

There is an element of personal care involved if a nappy needs changing.

A driver would be desirable, but not essential

This post is funded through Ceredigion County Council’s Direct Payments scheme. Training can be provided as and when required and where available.

Main duties:

  • Support son to be confident in spending time with another adult besides the parents away from the family home.
  • Develop a trusting relationship so that over time access can be made to some leisure pursuits.
  • introduce gradually to any group activities
  • Provide constant supervision
  • Offer support at times of emotional anxiety

Person Specification:
Experience of working with young autistic people would be advantageous

A driver would be desirable, but not essential

Able to build and maintain a trusting relationship

Willing to undertake mandatory PA training

Flexible around hours of work and main duties of this position Ability to use own initiative and to be self-motivated

I am looking for a reliable personal assistant to provide companionship and sit with me to enable my husband to have a break from his role as main carer and enable him to attend courses.  I am very easy going but need a reliable PA so other support can be arranged in advance. Support will be at my home, so driver is not essential.

I like to watch TV, especially detective, mystery, and old classic comedy programmes. I also like doing jigsaws, hobby craft, and having a chat. The vacancy is for 9 hours per week to be worked over 3 afternoons, 12-3pm. Exact days are not confirmed just yet as this is dependent on when courses take place.

Tasks involve making hot drinks, provide lunch that my husband has prepared for me and prompting me to use the commode as I can fall asleep and have an accident.

We can discuss more details when we meet, we look forward to receiving your application.

 Introduction

A caring, patient and committed personal assistant is required to support our 12 year old daughter who is Autistic with a PDA (pathological demand avoidance) profile. This is primarily to help her to develop confidence and skills to step out into the world and develop her interests in her own time.

We are a neuro divergent family and we celebrate Autistic identity and do not see this as a disadvantage but more a challenge due to living in a neuro typical world, it is for this reason that support is needed.

Her current special interests are make-up art and fashion design.  She is initially shy but once you get to know her she will make you laugh lots. She loves clothes and fashion and loves the family dog Tilly and the cat Milly. She loves listening to music.

I am looking for a reliable personal assistant to offer me companionship, and assistance to enable me to socialise in and out of my home. I try to be flexible but ideally need someone able to commit to either Thursday or Friday

I am a fairly anxious person who sometimes lacks motivation. I would like your support to accompany me to go out for lunch, go food shopping and to carry out light household tasks. When we are out, I prefer not to be left on my own.

I have two young children; they are in the household after school and during school holidays. You are not required to care for them as such but support me in my parenting role. I like to take them out to places such the park so they can enjoy playing and have a run around.

I would like to find a local Tai Chi class to attend, or go swimming at Penrhos Park in Llanrhystud, but may need encouragement and patience to attend these.

I need a driver to go to these places. I pay mileage and expenses at the end of each 4-week pay period, excluding mileage between home and work. You will need to have appropriate business use cover when using your car in connection with work.

If you are caring and enjoy making a real difference to peoples lives, this could be the right opportunity for you. I look forward to receiving your application.

I am a ‘young’ 73-year-old botanist, artist, and grandmother, residing in Aberystwyth.

I am in search of a support worker to help me with daily routines at home and assisting me to access my local community, shops, and other things I enjoy.

I can walk around my flat in short stretches and require the use of a wheelchair for longer distances or when out of the house. I rely upon one of my arms for tasks but the other is uncooperative. So will require assistance when two hands are needed.

I would like my support worker to assist me with my arts and crafts activities. Helping me to set up and prepare my paints, brushes, and other materials.

To get out and about I need a support worker who can transport me to my chosen locations and is able to assist with my manual wheelchair.  This can include trips into town, the arts centre, gardens, and galleries or a bit of shopping.  Outings further afield will be mutually agreed in advance.

As part of my daily routines, I require assistance with showering and dressing in the morning. I would also like help around the kitchen with food preparation and baking, including some light domestic duties.

I am a young man of 17 with cerebral palsy and learning difficulties who is an avid gamer and has a fun sense of humour.

My mobility is good in short stretches, but I will need help with my wheelchair for longer distances.

I am looking for a support worker to help me enjoy some of my favourite activities and to discover new experiences. Initially this will be for six months to cover maternity but with the potential for a permanent position in the future.

On a typical day out, I enjoy visiting charity shops and hunting for bargains, followed by a stop in a café for a hot chocolate. Weather permitting, I also like to visit the park.

At home I like to play games, specifically imaginary play, so a good imagination is essential.

I would also like my support worker to accompany me to the swimming pool.  This would require transporting me to and from the location and assisting me when I am in the pool.

I am also happy for my support worker to find and suggest new activities which I may enjoy, as I’m very keen to experience new and exciting things to do.

Job title: Personal assistant

Location: Bow Street area

Hours of work:  8 hours per week

Rate of pay: £13.50 per hour

 Introduction

A caring, patient and committed personal assistant is required to support our energetic 10 year old daughter with socialisation activities. She has Pathological Demand Avoidance which results in her avoiding anything that is perceived as a demand.  Sometimes this can result in anxiety about leaving the house but other times, she will be happy to engage in an activity outside of the home.

The purpose of this role is to help our daughter with her social care needs both in the community and at home. This includes assistance with managing her emotional anxiety. She enjoys activities such as playing games, cooking, going on the trampoline, walking on the beach, cold water dips, watching TV and doing arts and crafts.

Our daughter can take time to warm up and feel comfortable with new people, so she needs someone who is patient, understanding and willing to get to know her. Support will initially involve working with the family to build a relationship and eventually lead to lone working. A flexible approach is a must as PDA is anxiety based. We are flexible over the days and times to be worked. Driver not essential.

We look forward to receiving your application.

I am a young man of primary school age.  My mother and I would like to employ a personal assistant to help me to participate in social activities, engage with my peers and to allow my mum to have some time to herself.

I am a lively young person who requires a lot of supervision, this is especially important when I am out of the house. Sometimes, I may display challenging behaviour, so it is essential that my PA has experience of dealing with things like this.

Familiarity is important to me; I will need my PA to help me develop routines and activities which are familiar and engaging.

I enjoy going swimming, playing on the beach, going to the park, and attending the Sgiliau Play Centre.  I would also like to attend after school clubs too.

In the house I love to play video games and listen to music. I also enjoy being creative and spending time in the kitchen baking.

If this is something you can help us with, please consider applying.
