A consultation will be held on establishing a new area school in the Aeron Valley. The council’s Cabinet approved the consultation on 4 June 2019.

Council officers carried out an engagement exercise between the 4 February and 17 March 2019. 17 responses were received during this time.

The consultation will ask for opinions on the proposal to establish an area school in the Aeron Valley. The new school will be on a new site. Alternative proposals will also be included in the consultation. These proposals will include ones suggested in the engagement exercise.

Carrying out the consultation will allow the council to submit a business case to Welsh Government. If it is successful, the Government will match fund the cost of building the school.

Councillor Catrin Miles is the Cabinet member for Learning Services. She said, “Everyone in the Aeron Valley and beyond can have their say on this proposal. If you have something to say or a suggestion to make, you can do that through the consultation.”

“We are dedicated to maintaining high education standards in the county. The modernisation programme is important to make sure that Ceredigion pupils have the best possible opportunities in school.”

The Cabinet decision supports the council’s corporate priority of Investing in People’s Future.
