Ceredigion Youth Service has been awarded the prestigious Silver Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales.

The Welsh Government launched the Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales in October 2015 to provide a robust, independent, external assessment of the quality and performance of organisations that deliver youth work in Wales.

In 2017, Ceredigion Youth Service was awarded the Bronze Award, and has now moved on to achieve the Silver Quality Mark for youth work in Wales. The team of assessors said how impressed they were during the visit and how well the Youth Service achieved the standards.

The final report identified that Ceredigion Youth Service offered a high quality Youth Work offer covering 16 core areas including; Involving Young People, the Curriculum, Equality and Diversity and Workforce Development.

The report identified that Ceredigion Youth Service is a key partner in delivering services for young people in Ceredigion. They recognised that young people play an important role in the development of the service, and that the organisation has established a forward thinking use of young people’s involvement in all levels of the council’s political structure.

A key strength identified in the report was that the organisation has a strong curriculum and youth work offer with clear holistic approaches which are inclusive and varied. There are excellent examples of collaborative working, with Youth Work being the pillar approach in developing wellbeing across the Service.

Catrin Miles, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Ceredigion Youth Service said, “To have been awarded with the Silver Quality Mark for Youth Work in Wales is a tremendous achievement for the Service. It’s great recognition for the commitment and hard work of the team in supporting young people’s personal, social and educational development and encouraging all young people to reach their full potential. This award shows that Ceredigion Youth Service continues to deliver an outstanding service to young people every year.”
