On 17 March, Aber Folk Club are presenting the award-winning folk duo, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman at Ceredigion Museum in Aberystwyth

Duos come and duos go, and some nurture and fine-tune their art and watch it grow into something captivating and award-winning. Bonded by unseen alchemy, Kathryn and Sean have entwined their professional and personal relationship into an enviable class act of imaginative songwriting and musicianship.

The Dartmoor-based husband and wife have twice won the coveted ‘Best Duo’ title at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2016 and 2013 for consistently delivering assured, distinctive performances; live or recorded.

For over two decades of performances, the duo have always been bold and innovative, mixing traditional song arrangements with increasingly self-penned material. Their music covers folk, rock, country and blues genres and the tone varies from the bitter to the sweet, wry to the sad, and political to the passive.

Dan Laws, Aber folk Club said, “We are very honoured to be presenting this well-known duo in such a grand setting. Toes will be tapping. Aber folk club takes place at the museum on the first and third Wednesday of every month.”

Aber folk club regular, John Aldersalde will be supporting the duo.

The doors will open at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15 and are available from the Tourist Information Centre in Aberystwyth.
