Views are being sought from Ceredigion residents, businesses, existing licence holders and their representatives on Ceredigion County Council’s review of its current Gambling policy. The policy covers betting, gaming, casinos, lotteries and bingo.

The current gambling policy was adopted by the Council in January 2016 and must be reviewed every three years. The key objectives of the current policy are to: prevent gambling from being a source of crime and disorder; enable gambling to be conducted in a fair and open way and protect children and other vulnerable people from gambling.

The Cabinet Member with responsibility for Public Protection Services, Councillor Gareth Lloyd said, “This consultation is an opportunity for both residents and businesses to express their views on the Gambling Policy. We encourage constructive feedback so that amendments or changes can be made where appropriate. Ceredigion prides itself as a network of communities that can communicate and join together in tackling issues. I wish to highlight that you should get in contact with the Council if there are gambling-related problems in your area; if you feel that access to gambling by vulnerable persons in your area is a problem or if you consider that access to gambling by children or young people in your area is a problem.”

Following the consultation, a report will be completed and considered by the Cabinet of Ceredigion County Council and then the members of the full Council.
