In a meeting on 15 January 2018, the signatories of the Ceredigion Armed Forces Community Covenant reaffirmed their commitment to the Community Covenant and the work it carries out. The reaffirmation was carried out in the Council Chamber in Penmorfa, Aberaeron.
The Community Covenant was first signed in January 2013. The aim of the Community Covenant is to encourage local communities to support the Armed Forces community in their area and nurture understanding and awareness amongst the public of issues affecting the Armed Forces community.
Ceredigion County Council’s Armed Forces Champion and Chairman of the Ceredigion Armed Forces Community Covenant, Councillor Paul Hinge said, “The Ceredigion Armed Forces Covenant has over the last five years carried out some excellent work which has improved the ability of Service personnel, veterans and their families to access services that they require. As we’ve now entered a new Council term it was felt by Covenant Forum that now was the time for all partners in the Covenant to reaffirm their commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant which was duly carried out in the Council Chamber reminding us all of the commitment we made back in 2013.”
The Covenant’s signatories include Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed, Sara Edwards; The High Sherriff of Dyfed, Sue Balsom and the Ceredigion County Council Chairman, Councillor Lynford Thomas. Other signatories include representatives from the 3rd Battalion Royal Welsh; Aberystwyth University; CAVO; Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service; The Royal British Legion; the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association; Change Step; Tai Ceredigion; Wales and West Housing; University of Wales Trinity Saint David Group; Hafal; Ceredigion Citizens Advice Bureau; Help for Heroes and Veterans Legal Link. Hywel Dda University Health Board, Dyfed Powys Police, Veteran to Veteran, West Wales Action for Mental Health, West Wales Domestic Abuse Service, the DWP and One Voice Wales are also signatories of the Community Covenant.
