The Ceredigion Community Safety Partnership is currently carrying out an Assessment of crime and disorder related issues within the County.
The purpose of the Assessment is to provide knowledge and understanding of community safety problems that will inform and enable the Community Safety Partnership to: Understand the patterns, trends and shifts relating to Crime & Disorder and Substance Misuse; Set clear and robust priorities; Develop activity that is driven by reliable intelligence and meets the needs of the local community; Deploy resources effectively and present value for money; Undertake annual reviews and plan activity based on the clear understanding of the issues and priorities.
The Assessment will also be utilised to inform the Dyfed-Powys Police & Crime Commissioner’s Police & Crime Plan and other related plans and initiatives.
A Joint Community Safety Public Engagement Meeting in conjunction with Dyfed-Powys Police and the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, with senior representatives from the Ceredigion Community Safety Partnership in attendance, will take place on Wednesday, 18 April in the Council Chamber, Penmorfa, Aberaeron, commencing at 7pm and finishing no later than 9pm.
Barry Rees, the Strategic Director for Learning & Partnerships and the Chair of the Ceredigion Community Safety Partnership said, “The public are warmly invited to attend, and the meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for the public to play their part in shaping future policing and community safety priorities for Ceredigion. There will be short presentations followed by an opportunity for the public to raise any specific issues or concerns they may have in their communities. Please join us to have your say.”
In 1998, The Crime and Disorder Act placed a duty on Local Authorities and the Police to form a partnership to reduce crime and disorder in their communities. The Ceredigion Community Safety Partnership, comprises representatives from Ceredigion County Council, Police, Fire & Rescue Service and the Fire & Rescue Authority, Her Majesty’s Prisons & Probation Service and the Wales Community Rehabilitation Company, Hywel Dda University Health Board, Public Health Service, Youth Justice Prevention Service, and Area Planning Board for Substance Misuse.
The Partnership has already undertaken public consultation by distributing questionnaires throughout the County to a wide variety of organisations and individuals and was available on the County Council Website. The consultation concluded on 1 February, 2018.
