During school terms, we would like you to pick our son up from school on Mondays at 3.30, take him to the leisure centre or to other activities, and drop him home after. When going swimming, you are required to assist in the changing room and prompt him to go to the toilet. He is toilet trained but if he has an accident, you will be required to carry out some personal care.

We prepare food in a lunchbox and there is always plenty of food at home if you return home early. Dry snacks such as crisps and cookies are preferred; he can communicate his needs very well and will ask if he wants anything.

Main duties

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the clients at all times whilst on duty and be risk aware (Be aware that objects that can be swallowed or crunched like pens or tissue can be a choking risk etc.)
  • Take responsibility for your own safety concerning manual handling.
  • Changing incontinence pads and completing personal care needs including: - Washing, bathing, applying cream and medications to sensitive areas, (up to 12 times per day )
  • Dressing, feeding and ensuring hydration.
  • Assisting with the disabled clients laundry and essential domestic cleaning.
  • Help with the clients daily physiotherapy and massage (training given).
  • Assist mum with cooking family meals.
  • Respect the family’s culture and the integrity of their bonds, Respect Mum’s knowledge about what needs to be priority.
  • Assist with family life in a way that enables Mum to take some respite time for herself, deal with external agencies, sleep or to spend time with individual members of the family, on a one to one basis
