I am a powered wheelchair user with a head control to drive the chair.

I use a computer/communication aid called an accent 1400, and I operate it by using a white little dot on my glasses, because I have very poor speech and poor control of my arms and hands.

If I have not got a communication aid to hand, I point to things with my head and hands. I can nod my head to say yes and to say no, I shake my head. My husband, family and my P.A's can understand some of my speech but there is a knack to it. I like to live as independently as much as possible

I do not like being taken over and I cannot stand being patronised. I like to be spoken to in an adult tone. I do not like being bossed or manipulated or patted anywhere on my body in a childlike manner, as I have my own mind.
