Four Young Leaders from Ceredigion have won a National Innovation Award for their work last year as Bronze Young Ambassadors.
Recognition has been given to Elan Jones, Mackenzie Lawlor, Mili Davies and Yazmin Bonner-Miah, who have since moved up to Penglais school, for their work in promoting physical activity and getting children up and active at Plascrug Community Primary School.
Alwyn Davies, Active Young People Manager, “This is a fantastic recognition for Elan, Mackenzie, Mili and Yazmin for their dedication and hard work to the role of Bronze Young Ambassador. They have taken on all the initiatives offered to them by Ceredigion Actif and have worked with school staff to implement the activities at Plascrug. This has had a positive impact on the pupils both physical and socially.”
The group developed their own initiative by filming 36 short videos of physical skills. The videos were shared with pupils, teachers and parents at the school available through QR Codes.
This initiative was further shared with all Ceredigion Schools and has now been recognised and selected to win the National Innovation Award by the Youth Sport Trust and Sport Wales through the Young Ambassador programme.
Councillor Catrin Miles, Cabinet Member for Learning Services and Lifelong Learning said, “This Leadership Programme is being delivered throughout chools in Wales. It’s fantastic for a Ceredigion Primary School and their Young Ambassadors to be recognised nationally with their leading innovative initiative.”
The group also arranged lunchtime and after school games, ran a Fit in 5 initiative and helped organise the Summer Fair.
