The Ceredigion Learning Disability Partnership Board would like to know your views on the Learning Disability Strategy; a new strategy for people with a learning disability and their families and carers.

Following the survey work which was undertaken earlier this year, the Ceredigion Learning Disability Partnership Board has created the Learning Disability Strategy which has incorporated the feedback received from people using services, their families and carers, and providers of services.

The Board now wish to consult with people to gain their feedback on the draft strategy, which will be used when developing and monitoring services in the future. In order to do this, the consultation will be opened with public engagement sessions.

Councillor Alun Williams, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Adult Services and Learning Disability Champion, said, “This is an important period for the development of Learning Disability Services in Ceredigion. As the population changes, the kinds of services people want to receive are naturally changing also. It’s important that the Council understands what people want now and develops its services accordingly. I hope that everyone affected will take part in this consultation.”

The Ceredigion Learning Disability Partnership Board is made up of health and social care professionals, carers and third sector organisations. Together, different organisations will be able to use this policy across services in Ceredigion to provide consistent services.

Councillor Catherine Hughes, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Children’s Services and Carers Champion said, “We recognise that people with a learning disability and Carers are the ones who know what their needs are. It is vital that their views are reflected in this Strategy.”
