Theatr Felinfach’s annual Welsh Pantomime is celebrating its 50th year this year. It is famous throughout Wales and is the flagship participatory and community project.

A warm welcome is given to everyone to Theatr Felinfach on Friday, 25 May at 7.30pm to celebrate. The Theatre’s Senior Creative Officer, Ffion Medi said, “There’ll be fun, there’ll be laughter. It’ll be a Panto in itself! Calling all actors, past and present, back stage crew, set and prop crew, all technicians, wardrobe assistants, loyal members of the audience and friends of Theatr Felinfach. This is an opportunity to celebrate this important milestone in the history of Cwmni Actorion Theatr Felinfach and Welsh drama as a whole in rural Ceredigion. There’ll be cake and bubbles. A time to enjoy!”

To kick-start the celebrations an open day was held at Theatr Felinfach on Saturday, 12 May 2018 between 10am and 3pm. It was an opportunity to reminisce and share stories, photos and video clips. It was an informal day to browse through old pictures, scan new ones and add to the theatre’s existing collection over a cup of tea and cake, whilst looking ahead to celebrating this remarkable milestone.

Rhian Dafydd, The Theatre’s Business and Marketing Manager, said, “The Panto is an exciting time from year to year, when a group of actors, performers and members of the community come together, on the stage or behind the scenes. They come together to develop and script the main community event of the year which is led by the theatre's creative team. They follow a professional theatre schedule to create a big show in a short space of time!”

The rehearsal period is chaotic and exciting at the same time knowing that audiences will travel from a distance to enjoy the new and original story that revolves around a group of likeable characters based in the Aeron Valley. Theatr Felinfach’s Pantomime is unique, and something different can certainly be expected! Yes, Panto Theatr Felinfach is more than a pantomime!

Theatr Felinfach creates opportunities and access to the arts and culture of Wales through creative, participative projects and a programme of professional productions, primarily through the medium of Welsh. It has done this since its inception in 1972. It’s not only a stage to perform upon, but also a platform that gives all participants valuable opportunities to socialise, to create great memories.
