29 volunteers attended the Ceredigion County Council led clean ups in February, giving a total of 55 hours of their time to remove litter from the beaches, woods and reserves of Ceredigion.

Rachel Mills, Ceredigion County Council’s Environmental Protection Officer said, “A big thank you to all the volunteers who turned up to help with the clean ups in February. Undeterred by the snow and strong winds, just under a quarter of a tonne of litter (245kg) and waste was removed from four sites. That is a significant amount of waste and with the help of the volunteers we can see that a positive step has been made to help improve the environment around us. The clean–up continues in March with a warm welcome to all. Together we really can make a difference.”

The events are facilitated by Ceredigion County Council officers who will provide volunteers with litter picking equipment as well as hot drinks and snacks.

Here are the March events:
• Borth and Ynyslas Beach on 15 March between 10am and 12pm with the meeting point opposite the YHA.
• Llwyn yr Eos Woodland and surroundings, Penparcau on 22 March between 11am-1pm. The meeting point is the entrance to the woodland.
• Ystwyth Trail, Pen-y-bont Bridge to Glan yr Afon on 27 March between 12pm and 2pm. The meeting point is the layby where the trail meets Heol-y-bont, near Morrisons.

Attendees are encouraged to wear suitable clothing. For further details, to take part in an organised event, or if you would like to organise an event yourself and wish to borrow litter picking equipment, call Rachel Mills on 07870 275241 or email Rachel.Mills@ceredigion.gov.uk.
