A special evening will be held to remember the work of Wales' best-known children's book author, T. Llew Jones.

On Thursday, 06 October at 7:30pm, the T. Llew Jones Remembrance Evening will be held at Aberystwyth Town Library, Canolfan Alun R Edwards.

The third official memorial night to be organised by the Library, the evening will include a talk by guest speaker, Jon M O Jones. The title of the chat is 'Bwbw o ben Foel Gilie: memories of the rural society of the Gilie'. There will also be a performance by Parti Camddwr.

Before becoming a full-time author, T. Llew Jones was a primary school teacher in Ceredigion for 35 years, and died in 2009. He published over 50 books for adults and children. Some of them were adapted for television and were shown around the world.

Councillor Catrin M S Davies, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Library Services, said, “Every year, a number of schools across the county celebrate T. Llew Jones Day on 11 October, and new generations of children come to know and enjoy hearing the exploits of Twm Sion Cati, Barti Ddu, and the Rebecca Rioters. The Remembrance Evening on the 6th of October will be a great opportunity for the residents of Ceredigion to remember and celebrate T. Llew Jones' contribution to the world of storytelling and myth making.”

This is a Welsh Language event and Welsh learners are most welcome. The evening is free, but booking is required. For more information, and to book a please, contact Aberystwyth Library on 01970 633717 or email library@ceredigion.gov.uk.
