Work is underway for the National Eisteddfod of Wales which will be held in Ceredigion between 30 July and 06 August 2022.

The event will be held in Tregaron and the whole of Ceredigion is gearing up to welcome the long-awaited Eisteddfod to our county.

The Eisteddfod will bring a surge in visitors during the busy summer period, and as we prepare a warm welcome to all, we wish to make the public aware of possible disruptions to services.

A significant increase in the amount of traffic on the highway network in the area is expected during this period as well as during the set up and break up periods.

Local Bus Services

While it is intended to operate local bus services as scheduled it is very likely there will be some disruptions to these which will include extended journey times. Ceredigion bus operators will make every effort to minimise the impact on the travelling public.

As well as the scheduled local bus services additional commercial services are being provided by bus companies from Aberystwyth, Lampeter and Aberaeron to the Maes. To see the timetables and but tickets, visit the Eisteddfod’s website: https://eisteddfod.wales/2022-bysiau

Waste Collection

It is intended to provide waste collection services as scheduled across most of Ceredigion during the week commencing 02 August 2022. However, due to the increase in traffic volumes specifically in Tregaron we will be making some slight localised changes to collection arrangements. Those affected will be contacted directly. If you are not contacted please present your waste, as usual, by 08:00 on the scheduled day of collection.

Further information, including a postcode finder and any service disruption details are available at Bins & Recycling - Ceredigion County Council or by contacting Clic on 01545 570881 or clic@ceredigion.gov.uk

Traffic and local parking

There will be an increased presence of Officers from Ceredigion County Council in Tregaron during the Eisteddfod period. They will provide advice and information while undertaking monitoring activities.

Drivers are advised to check the parking restrictions in place prior to leaving their vehicle. This is especially important as there will be temporary changes to the parking restrictions, one way systems and speed limits in place during this time. Please drive and park considerately, responsibly and legally.

Advance Directional signage will be positioned at key locations within and outside the county boundary. Motorists are advised to follow the route signage and not rely on their Sat Nav’s to take any shortcuts or detours. More information on how to reach the Maes can be found on the Eisteddfod’s website.

‘Extra care and precaution’

Councillor Keith Henson, Cabinet Member for Highways and Environmental Services and Carbon Management, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the National Eisteddfod of Wales to Ceredigion, where it will be located at Tregaron. This is a great opportunity to promote and celebrate the county. In order to ensure a successful event, we would like to call on everyone to take extra care and precaution when travelling during this busy period. Public safety is of the upmost importance and we would like to thank everyone for their co-operation during this busy yet exciting period for Ceredigion. Keep an eye out too for the wonderful banners, bunting and signs made by Ceredigion communities to welcome the Eisteddfod. The county is beaming with excitement and colour.”

As part of Caru Ceredigion we would like to thank everyone for their support and understanding. This will ensure the Eisteddfod’s success and that Ceredigion continues to be a truly fantastic place to live and visit.
