The latest pilot to promote positive waste presentation behaviours in Aberystwyth has been launched.

The scheme has seen waste collection information being displayed on 13 streets in Aberystwyth Town Centre. The displays inform residents of what waste to put out and when.

The streets are:
• Custom House Street
• Sea View Place
• High Street
• Bridge Street
• Powell Street
• George Street
• Gray’s Inn Road
• South Road
• Queens Road
• Portland Street
• Portland Road
• New Street
• Corporation Street

Councillor Dafydd Edwards is the Cabinet member for Highways and Environmental Services together with Housing. He said: “We see this as another practical and effective means of responding to long standing waste presentation issues in Aberystwyth town centre. It provides information to remind residents on which days to present their waste.

The pilot forms part of Caru Aber and the wider Caru Ceredigion whereby the County Council seeks to work with local communities to address issues which are of concern or important to them. This innovative approach is another example of positive proactive action the Council is taking. It is hoped that all the residents of the town centre will play their part in helping to keep Aberystwyth clean.”

The initiative is developing on feedback and experience from three other ongoing pilots in Ceredigion. The success of the pilot scheme is being monitored on an ongoing basis and reviewed to reflect experience.
