At the end of a challenging year, Ysgol Gynradd Llanilar is celebrating the success of implementing the language by winning the Gold Standard of the Welsh Language Charter.

Ysgol Gynradd Llanilar is the first school in Ceredigion to achieve this standard. Innovative work was seen to develop the Welsh language beyond the boundaries of the School with evidence of promoting and encouraging the language in the wider community.

The work is led by the Cewri Cymraeg (Welsh Giants) who take their duties seriously. Strong leadership comes from Mrs Rhiannon Salisbury, charter co-ordinator. Mrs Salisbury said, “We are over the moon! It's the pinnacle of our year and a wonderful end to the Cewri Cymraeg’s time in the primary as they progress to Secondary.”

The Welsh Language Charter is in place in all the County's Primary Schools and is also developing in the Secondary Sector. Everyone is on the journey and there is some great work happening across the County.

Councillor Catrin Miles, Ceredigion County Council's Cabinet Member for Schools, said, “Congratulations to Ysgol Gynradd Llanilar for their success. Reaching the Gold Standard of the Welsh Language Charter is not easy, so well done. Who will be the next to join the Llanilar crew?”

Congratulations to you all at Ysgol Gynradd Llanilar.
