A garden party for carers will be held on 11 April between 12 and 3pm which is organised by students from Coleg Ceredigion who are currently studying for their BTEC Health and Social Care qualification Level 3.

The garden party which is funded by Ceredigion County Council is aimed towards carers of all ages and from all situations across Ceredigion to enjoy, relax and feel valued. There, carers can enjoy time with their loved ones, and take off their 'carers hat' for an afternoon.

The Ceredigion Carers Unit have been meeting with the students every two weeks to provide support and guidance. The students have been working hard to organise the first Carers Garden Party to create an accessible space where carers can socialise, meet other carers and enjoy the music and other entertainment.

Councillor Catherine Hughes, Cabinet member responsible for Children Services and Culture, who is also the Member’s Champion for carers said, “This is a fantastic event for carers in Ceredigion who are interested in an afternoon filled with entertainment and music. The students have worked very hard to organise this event especially for carers in Ceredigion. I would like to thank the students on behalf of Ceredigion County Council for their hard work.”

If you would like to attend the event but are not sure how you can make that happen, the Carers Unit may be able to find the correct support for you. The event is free and is held at Cwrt Mawr Hub in Aberystwyth University, however booking is essential.

Contact the Carers Unit to reserve your space on 01970 633564 or by e-mail on carersunit@ceredigion.gov.uk to receive more information.
