At the end of the last half term, a tea party was held at Ysgol y Dderi to celebrate Mair Spate’s retirement, after 42 years of working as the school’s dinner money collector.

Heini Thomas, Ysgol y Dderi’s Headteacher said, “I would like to wish a very happy retirement to Mrs Mair Spate after 42 years at Ysgol y Dderi. Mrs Spate has worked in the school since the beginning and has diligently collected the children’s dinner money over the decades. A tea party was held and looked after by the school Cooking Club and a gift was presented to her to show our appreciation of her tireless service. It will be very odd without her but am wishing her a long and happy retirement.”

Mair started work at Ysgol y Dderi, Llangybi when it opened for the first time in 1976.

Councillor Catrin Miles, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Learning Services said, “On behalf of Ceredigion County Council, I would like to congratulate Mair for her dedication to Ysgol Y Dderi over the years and wish her a lovely retirement.”
