A nationally advertised two day motorsport event with onsite camping due to be held at Ceredigion this coming weekend has been served with an Event Direction not to be held.

The Autumn Touge in The Valleys 2020 event was due to take place at Mid Wales Activity Centre in Pontrhydfendigaid from 26 to 27 September 2020.

Ceredigion County Council’s Public Protection Team has worked with the event organiser, the land-owner, Dyfed Powys Police and the Welsh Government to serve the Event Direction in response to the serious and imminent threat to public health which is posed by the incidence and spread of the coronavirus. With a worsening number of cases nationally, it is even more important that the regulations limiting gatherings are observed to prevent spreading the virus.

The event proposed was due to attract more than 30 people to gather outdoors, which does not comply with the current legislation being the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (No.2) (Wales) Regulations 2020.

The direction is necessary for the purpose of preventing, protecting against, controlling or providing a public health response to the incidence or spread of the coronavirus infection in Ceredigion’s local authority area.

The event organiser must now take steps to comply with the direction, and a copy of the Event Direction has also been provided to Dyfed Powys Police, Welsh Ministers and the land-owner.

Any event organizers who are unsure of their responsibilities are urged to check the current guidelines on the Welsh Government’s website.
