A new public cycle repair station with an integrated pump has recently been installed outside Plascrug Leisure Centre. The station was installed by Ceredigion County Council using grant funding from the Welsh Government’s Local Transport Fund.

The station has a number of different tools and tyre levers to help make adjustments and minor repairs and there is an in-built pump to inflate tyres for wheelchairs as well as bicycles. A similar cycle repair station has also been provided to Aberystwyth University who will install this near their main entrance to the Penglais Campus.

Councillor Alun Williams, the Cabinet member responsible for Carbon Management, Sustainability and Transport said, “These innovative new repair stations are a one-stop-shop for cyclists needing to make basic repairs or adjustments to their bicycles. They’ve been placed in excellent places in Aberystwyth for ease of use. It’s particularly important to note that tyres of wheelchairs can also be inflated at these stations.”

In 2017, a cycle repair station was installed by the Rail Station and a cycle pump in Baker Street in Aberystwyth. These developments follow grant funding to help encourage increased Active Travel journeys and fewer car journeys.
